The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

After Penn State, I got a Masters in Actuarial Science in Boston (great town) and my Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries, which enabled me to work as an actuary at Acacia Mutual Life Insurance Company in Washington DC. In 1980, I became a pension consultant at Watson Wyatt in DC and in the 1990s I headed up the Retirement Practice at Mercer in Manhattan (another great place to live). Other jobs in DC included lead Pension Actuary at OPM, Chief Actuary of the federal agency that insures pensions (PBGC), Senior Benefits Advisor for the US Senate's Finance Committee, and spokesperson for the Actuarial Profession, which gave me lots of chances to mess up on TV and testify in Congress. It's been a fun life, and now I'm back where it all began: I'm teaching Actuarial Science at Penn State!
